Athletic Training Student Aid

The Athletic Training Student Aide Program (ATSAP) has been established for high school students who have an interest in pursuing a career in athletic training, sports medicine, or other allied health professions.

The program is a commitment to at least one athletic season (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Students cannot enroll in the program during the same season they are playing a sport. Students will shadow the certified athletic trainer; learn basic taping, injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques; and spend time with the certified athletic trainer on the sidelines with all the sports teams during practice and interscholastic competitions.

The goals and objectives of the program range from the introduction to athletic training and other allied health professions to sport injury rehabilitation techniques. Athletic training student aides will be introduced to taping techniques, skills in first aid, therapeutic modalities, and help during interscholastic sport competitions. The responsibilities of the ATSA will vary depending on experience and the needs of the sport season.

Students interested in being an Athletic Training Student Aide may express interest by stopping by the Athletic Training Clinic or emailing Tam C Pham.
