In the mind of every artist is a masterpiece.

Magnify your creativity

St. Mary’s Academy celebrates Art. Research demonstrates participation in the Arts leads to higher test scores, a broadened understanding of other cultures and history, better interpersonal skills, and increased creativity. In addition, colleges and universities now look for students with well-rounded portfolios as part of the acceptance process. SMA offers both curricular (all grades) and extracurricular activities (click on the icons below for more details) in the Arts.

The Arts expand the minds of students in ways beyond reading and writing. At SMA we do not teach about the Arts. We teach through the Arts.

OUR goal

St. Mary’s program of the Arts aims to increase a student’s critical and creative thinking skills, self-esteem, willingness to take risks, and ability to work with others through the exploration and involvement of fine and performing arts.

Show Synopsis:

Eleven-year-old Charlie makes the same secret wish every day: to have a family that takes care of each other. But her mom barely gets out of bed in the morning, her dad is in jail and when Charlie is sent to live with distant relatives in a small Appalachian town, her dream seems to be out of reach. Or is it..? With the help of an uncommonly valiant neighbor boy, a big-hearted aunt and a skinny stray dog, could it be that wishes come true in even the most improbable places – and will Charlie recognize it before it’s too late? Adapted from the New York Times best-selling novel Wish by Barbara O’Connor.
